God wants me to love people
Some people think love is just a feeling. But God says love is something we do. We can choose to be loving to other people, even when we don’t feel like it.
There is a famous part of the Bible which is all about love. You can find it in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. It tells us what love is like. Here is what it says:
Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.
Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily.
Love does not remember wrongs done against it.
Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth.
Love never gives up on people.
It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.
Love will never end.
Those are not things we feel. They are things we can choose to do. But we need God’s help. And he really wants to help us!
Let’s say a prayer to God about this now.
Father God,
Thank you that you love me. Please help me to love other people like you do. Please help me choose to love people even when I do not feel like it.
